This past Thursday I went to the Orpheum Theater in Minneapolis to see Freddy play for k.d. lang, who was opening for Lyle Lovett. It was a great night, with Freddy playing acoustic, electric and lap steel guitar and violin. lang's setlist included "Helpless" by Neil Young, "A Kiss to Hang a Dream On" and other great tunes. Keep it going strong Freddy!

Lots of New Stuff

There are a few different items to touch on this time around.

#1) Freddy was mentioned in the December issue of Uncut (a British music
magazine). In the issue, there is a listing of people who have been a part of
Bob Dylan's Never Ending Tour. This is what it says about Freddy: "French-born
guitarist, rated by Dylan author Michael Gray as the best ever to feature in any
of Bob's bands-including Robertson and Bloomfield."

For those of you who don't know, the "Robertson" mentioned is Robbie Robertson,
who was a member of the Band and the "Bloomfield" mentioned is Michael
Bloomfield, who played on Dylan's album "Highway 61 Revisited."

#2) Freddy has played on a couple albums: "Plantation Gospel" by Earl Thomas,
and "Amor Doloroso" by Jacques Higelin.

#3) Freddy is producing and playing on Jude Johnstone's new album.

#4) This spring Freddy will be producing another album with Kenny Edwards.

Freddy will be performing with Kenny Edwards at the Mint in Los Angeles, California this Friday (10/13). The show starts at 8:30pm. Freddy and Kenny will be joined by percussionist Jo Pusateri. If you're in the area stop by!

Freddy to be Special Guest on XM Radio and appear on some new albums!

Freddy will be a special guest (presented by James Trussart Custom Guitars) at the Guitare Guitare Blues Extravaganza with Harrison Jennedy and Christian Mallette at the Theatre Jean-Duceppe in Montreal on July 8th. This Blues show is a part of the Montreal Musician and Musical Instrument Show and it looks like it will be broadcast on XM Radio, more details later. Christian Mallette is the leader of the Christian Mellette Big Band, and he has also done some work with Bob Walsh.

In addition to the Blues show, Freddy will be appearing on upcoming albums by French musicians Eddie Mitchell and Jacques Higelin.

Freddy and Kenny playing at the Bodie House with Kaedmond

Due to a cancellation by Cliff Eberhardt, Freddy and Kenny Edwards (see post below) are playing a show on April 1st at the Bodie House in Agoura Hills, California. The show starts at 8pm and the cost ($15) includes the show, an appetizer/desert buffet, and coffee and soda pop. Also appearing will be the band Kaedmond, (formerly "The Remnants"). Making up Kaedmond are the following: Keith Jarvis, Dale LaDuke, Kris Garrett-Jarvis, Greg Krueger and Pat Mattison. They have been mixing country/pop vocal and songwriting talent with Celtic arrangements to create something Jarvis calls "Celtic Country." Freddy to team up with Kenny Edwards

Starting Wednesday, Feb. 15th, Kenny Edwards and Freddy Koella will be playing every other Wednesday at Cole's Bar in downtown Los Angeles. Freddy and Kenny plan on introducing new country-blues material and inviting musical guests to perform along side them.

Freddy produced Kenny's 2002 album, "Kenny Edwards." Kenny was a founding member of the Stoney Ponies (along with Linda Ronstadt), he was a member of the band Bryndle with Wendy Waldman, Andrew Gold, and Karla Bonoff. He has worked with many artists, among them Stevie Nicks, Emmylou Harris, Don Henley, Brian Wilson, Warren Zevon, Vince Gill, Art Garfunkel and many more.
